Biography
Philosophical Interests
I am a philosopher of science. In my dissertation, I worked on the debates on scientific and moral realism.
Currently, I am working on ad hominem arguments in scientific discourses, i.e. arguments that seek to discredit an opponent personally. Such arguments give rise, I think, to interesting methodological questions: What does a rational treatment of scientific theories look like? Which methods are we supposed to employ in their evaluation? Can ad hominem heuristics that address the intellectual integrity of scientists be a legitimate part of that? – Questions like these are thought-provoking because of their connection to the theory of (scientific) rationality: they can make us think more thoroughly about what it means to treat theories and ideas rationally (or irrationally).
